The Permanent Travelling Allowance (PTA) is a fixed monthly allowance provided to officers who frequently travel within their jurisdiction as part of their official duties. This post outlines the eligibility criteria, conditions for full drawal, and restrictions on claiming PTA.

Key Rules for Permanent Travelling Allowance [R.6 to 8, 53 & 54]

Definition and Purpose
PTA is a fixed monthly allowance granted to an officer for frequent travel within their jurisdiction. -
Eligibility for Full PTA
To draw the full amount of PTA, an officer must:-
Be on tour outside 8 km from their headquarters for at least 15 days in a month.

Spend at least 6 hours outside headquarters on each tour day [R.6 GD 1].

Proportional Reduction
If the minimum tour requirement is not met, the PTA amount will be reduced proportionately. -
Restrictions on PTA
PTA cannot be claimed during:-
Leave
-
Temporary transfer
-
Joining time
-
Alongside any other Travelling Allowance (TA) [R.7].
