Introduction and Discontinuation
Introduced vide GO(Rt) No.1247/2020/GAD dated 20/03/2020 and discontinued with effect from 18/06/2023 vide GO(Rt) No.388/2023/GAD dated 18/06/2023. -
Leave Duration and Eligibility
Special Leave for Covid-19 is granted for 5 days (including intervening holidays) upon producing a certificate from the Health Department or Local Body [GO(Rt) No.634/2021/DMD dated 15/09/2021 & GO(Rt) No.264/2022/DMD dated 16/03/2022]. -
Work from Home Provision
If work-from-home facilities are available, employees are not eligible for Special Leave for Covid-19. Instead, a seven-day work-from-home period is sanctioned [GO(Rt) No.264/2022/DMD dated 16/03/2022]. -
Cancellation of Quarantine Leave for Primary Contacts
Special Casual Leave for the quarantine period of primary contacts was cancelled with effect from 22/01/2022 [GO(Rt) No.70/2022/DMD dated 22/01/2022]. -
Renaming of Leave
Special Casual Leave sanctioned for Covid-19 has been renamed as 'Special Leave for Covid-19'. -
Combination with Other Leaves
The leave can be combined with Casual Leave and/or any other admissible leave type. -
Public Holidays and Vacation
Public holidays or vacations may intervene between two types of leave and can be prefixed, suffixed, or both. -
Ineligibility During Leave Without Allowance
Employees on Leave Without Allowance under X11-A, XII-B, XII-C, Part I, Kerala Service Rules are not eligible for this leave during or in continuation of such leave. -
Treatment as Duty
The period of Special Leave for Covid-19 is treated as duty for probation purposes as a special case. -
Leave Salary
The leave salary is governed by Rule 92, Part I, Kerala Service Rules.
