Visiting Abroad for Personal Purposes

Guidelines for Visiting Abroad

  1. No Government Sanction Required: Government sanction is not needed for personal or private visits abroad.

  2. Maximum Absence Period:

    • Up to 6 months for visiting children abroad.

    • Up to 4 months for other personal or private purposes.

  3. Leave Sanctioning:

    • The leave sanctioning authority can approve eligible leave, including casual leave, with permission to leave the country.

    • Leave Without Allowance (LWA) exceeding 4 months for visiting children requires government sanction.

  4. Application Requirements: The leave application must specify the country to be visited and the purpose of the visit.

  5. Absence Duration Limits:

    • Casual leave: Maximum of 15 days of absence from the country.

    • Other types of leave: Maximum of 4 months of absence, except for visiting children, which can extend to 6 months with government approval.
