Conveyance Allowance for Physically Handicapped Employees

Provisions for Conveyance Allowance

  1. Introduction: The Conveyance Allowance for physically handicapped employees was introduced vide Government Order GO(P) No.364/80/Fin, dated 11/06/1980.

  2. Admissibility Conditions:

    • The allowance is not admissible during leave (except Casual Leave), joining time, or suspension.

    • The allowance is admissible during Special Casual Leave as per GO(P) No.404/2011/Fin, dated 24/09/2011.

    • The allowance is admissible during vacation periods.

  3. Eligibility for Orthopaedically Handicapped Employees:

    • An orthopaedically handicapped employee is eligible if they have a minimum of 40% permanent partial disability in the upper or lower extremity deformities.

    • Eligibility requires a medical certificate issued by the Head of the Orthopaedics Department of a Government Civil Hospital.

  4. Eligibility for Blind Employees:

    • The allowance is admissible based on the recommendation of the Head of the Ophthalmological Department of a Government Civil Hospital.

  5. Application Process:

    • Eligible employees must apply for the allowance through the heads of their departments.

    • The allowance is payable from the date of recommendation by the concerned Medical Authority.
